LAUNCH OF THE NEW WEBSITE OF THE BOUAMATOU FOUNDATION

The Bouamatou Foundation announces the launch of its new website. More user-friendly and ergonomic, this new website is designed to meet the growing information needs of the population, media outlets, and the foundation's partners. The new website is accessible at the following address: fondationbouamatou.com 1. A WEBSITE FOR BETTER COMMUNICATION: The reorganization of information allows the public to be more clearly informed about the actions and results of the Bouamatou Foundation and to highlight the impressive track record of the foundation’s Ophthalmological Hospital, which for over 12 years has been providing free ophthalmological care to vulnerable populations in Mauritania, as well as in neighboring countries such as Mali and Niger.

2. SOME KEY FIGURES: Since it opened to the public on July 24, 2001, the Ophthalmological Hospital of the Bouamatou Foundation has provided, among other things: - 299,772 ophthalmological consultations - 349,119 surgical operations - 33,845 pairs of glasses - 3,596 pediatric consultations

3. AN INFORMATION MISSION ON OPHTHALMOLOGICAL DISEASES The Bouamatou Foundation, through its new website, is committed to informing the public about eye diseases, which affect the most vulnerable populations in the country, and about their treatments.

4. HISTORY OF THE BOUAMATOU FOUNDATION The Bouamatou Foundation was created on September 30, 1998 thanks to Mohamed Ould Bouamatou, who wished to make essential health care accessible to the underprivileged populations of his country. Thanks to his commitment and contribution, the foundation’s Ophthalmological Hospital opened its doors on July 24, 2001. Since then, the foundation has been providing free care in ophthalmology, as well as in pediatrics and surgery, thanks to state-of-the-art equipment. The Bouamatou Foundation trains general practitioners and national and foreign nurses in the specialties of ophthalmologist and ophthalmology technician. Prevent, treat, train and educate: these are the missions of the Bouamatou Foundation, making it one of the key players in Public Health in Mauritania.

5. A FUTURE WEBSITE DEDICATED TO THE FIGHT AGAINST TRACHOMA The Bouamatou Foundation is very active in the fight against trachoma and regularly travels throughout Mauritania and the sub-regions to conduct control and screening campaigns for the disease. However, trachoma remains a little-known disease among the general public. A website designed by the Bouamatou Foundation, which is set to launch during the first quarter of 2014, will therefore be entirely dedicated to it.

The New Website of the Bouamatou Foundation is accessible at the following address: fondationbouamatou.com
